The 2009 edition of Minnesota Brass Inc. got off to an incredible start during our Open House on Saturday, January 3. Well over 150 performers, volunteers and alums were on hand to kick off the corps' 63rd season! Corps director Ann Jones summed up the afternoon perfectly: "Playing music - dancing and moving - seeing old friends - making new friends - sharing a meal. All the things we love to do, and best of all we got to do them together."
Regular rehearsals begin Wednesday, January 7 at 6:45 p.m. Those who joined us at the Open House should plan to return; those who were unable to join us Saturday should show up. There's still room for YOU to be a part of Minnesota Brass in 2009!
Winter rehearsals are held at Highland Park High School in Saint Paul. Contact us if you have any questions. See ya Wednesday!

Minnesota Brass, Inc. is proud to announce their 2009 program entitled, "Nocturne - Songs for the Night." This dark and rich program will explore various moods of the night. Earle Hagen's "Harlem Nocturne" provides the thematic backdrop for the production. Additional selections will include an edgy and mysterious take on Stan Kenton’s “Commencement" as well as his "Aspect." A lush rendition of “My Immortal” from Evanescence will serve as the ballad while the intense energy of Dizzy Gillespie's, "A Night in Tunisia" is sure to bring drum corps fans to their feet. The music and expressive visual program will transport our audiences through the scariness, the sadness and the playfulness of the night. |

Long-time member, volunteer and Brassy winner Tina Cavitt wrote about her experiences on the field as Minnesota Brass achieved its highest score and placement ever at the 2008 DCA Finals.
DCA 2008: A VIEW FROM BEHIND
Since I was 11 years old, grand finales have held magic for me. Of course, I also like bagpipe bands, but let’s keep that our little secret.
Steamy summer nights, dewy grass, blinding stadium lights, rudimental drumming, colorful flags, full dress uniforms, anticipation – 40 years after my first finale, all these things still tug at my very core. I guess I’m a sucker for pageantry and the 2008 DCA finale was rife with it.

Friday night, November 14 was the 2008 Banquet for Minnesota Brass. Congratulations to all members on an outstanding season and especially our 2008 award recipients!
